Dr. Maryam Sani, a distinguished Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and a Chartered Chemist, has a remarkable three-decade career in education, leadership, and research in the UK and Saudi Arabia. Her academic journey includes a PGCE from Leicester University, an MSc in Analytical Chemistry, and a PhD in STEM Education and Careers from Staffordshire University. She initially became a chemistry teacher to encourage girls to see the excitement and relevance of chemistry in their lives which she achieved by engaging students in hands-on experiments and activities that were relatable. Dr. Sani is a prominent advocate for women in STEM, with additional expertise in Educational Project Management, Teacher Development, and Quality Assurance, including roles as a quality assurance evaluator for leading multinational corporations and a consultant for K-12 schools.

Her commitment to advancing STEM education and leadership for young women is evident through her co-organization of initiatives like the Saudi Women in Technology Program at MIT in Boston, Ladies for a Better Tomorrow, and Jeddah’s Tomorrow, all empowering high school girls. As the lead Professional in the Mawhiba School Partnership Initiative, she also supported gifted students in Chemistry Olympiads and ISEF competitions.

Dr. Sani founded ABS Educational Services, aiding students, families, and educational institutions in effective career guidance and university application support. She’s an active UK STEM Ambassador, mentoring students worldwide, especially women and underrepresented minorities in STEM. 

In 2022, Dr. Sani’s remarkable journey led her to the position of Education Lead for the Space Prize Foundation, a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting space education and innovation. Her career reflects an unwavering dedication to STEM education, particularly for underrepresented groups, making her a notable figure in the global academic community.
