Dr. Alaa Garad

Alaa Garad is regarded by many as a leading authority in Quality Management and Organizational Learning. Alaa led higher education institutions in the Middle East and developed PG-level qualifications such as MBA, PhD and DBA. Some of his previous assignments included the University of Wollongong in Dubai, Middlesex University Dubai and Abu Dhabi University. As an industry expert, he occupied leading management roles at Union National Bank, Emirates Airlines and IIP UAE, where he was the CEO.

Alaa relocated to the UK in 2017; his interest is in using learning mechanisms on individual, organizational, and government levels. He is an accredited Investors in People advisor and assessor. Alaa is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce and a Certified Management and Business Educator from the Chartered Association of Business Schools, UK. He is an ISO Technical Committee Member (TC260).

In March 2022, Alaa was awarded the Headline UK Excellence Award by HRH Princess Royal. He is the creator of the Learning-Driven Organisation Model and the bestseller ‘The Learning-Driven Business; How to Develop an Organisational Learning Ecosystem Book. Alaa has worked extensively in consultancy, executive education, and business development, with 24+ years of experience designing, leading, implementing, and managing various industries. He authored and contributed chapters to five books and over 450 articles in various newspapers. He is a column writer at one of the leading newspapers in the United Arab Emirates. He is the founder of the Organisational Learning Conference MENA and several other initiatives to disseminate the culture of learning and quality.
