Amr Ezzat Salama is the Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities, Chairman of the Executive Bureau of 57357 Foundation (Children Cancer Hospital), and Professor of Structural Engineering at Helwan University in Egypt since 1981.
He was Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technology of Egypt twice, where he contributed to the growth of biotechnology and sciences of the future, as well as the strengthening of relations between universities, scientific centres, business sector and society.
He was a member of the Shura Council where he headed the Housing Committee, and Chairman of the Management Engineering Society, Member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Engineers, Member of the Supreme Council of the Engineers Syndicate, President of Helwan University, Chairman of the National Housing and Building Research Centre and Counsellor to the American University in Cairo.
He was awarded the State Prize for Scientific Creativity in 2006, the State Award in Engineering Sciences in 2012, the Engineering Syndicate Medal, and the Golden Medal of the Egyptian Engineering Association.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cairo University, Master in Maritime Civil Engineering from Manchester University, UK and a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh, UK.
